Frequently asked questions:
1: How many TFC servers are there?
There is 1 server. pepe.congiman.com:27019
They is known as "lucifer's flowers -teamkill"

2: How is this different from a normal server out on the net?
it runs hlds_ld for Voting, and for TK detection.
It runs admin_mod for fine grained administration.
It runs non custom maps. It should never run 2fort or well... you can find them on any server.

3: Friendly fire is lame turn it off.
Friendly fire makes the game more challenging figuring out spies etc. If you dont like FF, then this is not the place for you.

4: What is your policy on banning?
We ban for the following things:
TEAMKILLING - If you TK you WILL BE BOOTED PERMANENTLY
Attacking an destroying your own teams sentry gun.
Excessive text spamming. Ok its really damned irritating.
They spoil the game for everyone. If you cannot grow up, then go somewhere else.
If you have changed your ways or think you were banned unfairly drop me a line and I'll double check.
Note, going on a crusade to kill a TK'er will most likely just end up getting you banned from the server... the scripts I use to manage the TK'ing are not sensitive to context.
I go through logs and other players are welcome to report TK'ers. TK'ing does NOT go unpunished.
Note: If you would like someone banned for some of the above reasons, or feel someone should be kicked for something not mentioned, drop me a line and I'll check on it.

5: How is the servers configured:
24 players each. Autoteam enabled. Voting is in place using voting software from http://linuxhlds.halflife.org

6: Why do you not run X map?
Many reasons:
1: Its never been asked for?
2: It crashed the server (very few in this case)
3: It does funky things, like does not support 24 players etc.
4: It requires wierd textures that are not in the linux install. AKA as crashing the "development" server
Most likely the answer is that it has never been asked for or I have been swamped trying to do this

7: What does this run?
It runs SuSE Linux 7.1 (yeah!)
Its a dual proc machine, with the TFC server sucking up 1 CPU.

8: How much traffic does a TFC server generate
20 users will draw about 1MB/s of traffic. (This was true with server V3.1)
with the maximum possible of 24 users, it could peak at 1.2 MB/s

9: How much processor load?
20 users will peg a PII 300, and will frequently peg a PII400, and occasionally peg a PIII450. The worst offender to cpu load is a MIRV grenade as it calculates damage 5 times. The server runs Dual 600 PIII's and holds up under 24 concurrent users. 28 would bog down a 550, so I'm told.

10: Where is the server and what is its connection?
It is located in santa clara (CA) at Exodus (Traceroute can tell ya that). It has a FAST connection out.

11: Can I have RCON?/Why not
No. I don't give out rcon.

Admin privs have be given out with the advent of admin mod.
Presently the admins are:

12: Can I host my clan here?
No.
Also, if I take the public server and turn it into a clan server, less people will come and play it thinking its a clan only server.
Also, I would need to give out rcon to a group of people I have never met/never spoken to.
There also are a lot of good players online and you can get some good practice going against them. :)

13: What is a .wad file and how do I use it?
A .wad file is an additional set of textures that a map needs to load in order for you to play it.
The down side of them is that you cannot download them in-game. You must download them and install them manually
All the maps with .wad's are available for download.
.wad files need to go in c:\sierra\half-life\tfc
.bsp files need to go in c:\sierra\half-life\tfc\maps

14: Do you have any disclaimers?
Yes. Pretty similar to what you see in restaurants: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone". This means, you can be banned, if deemed fit. Things such as TK, SG-TK, abuse of power, abuse of players etc. are the most common reasons.

15: Do your admins have a code of conduct?
They are allowed to kick when necessary and if they have the priv.
They are allowed to ban when necessary and if they have the priv.
They are allowed to squelch you when necessary and if they have the priv.
They are allowed to llama you when necessary and if they have the priv.
They are required to act with courtesy, and in most cases give you a warning.
They understand that the powers of an admin are to be used only to keep the game going in the best way possible.
They understand that its not for personal vendettas, to bully other players or for ego trips.
If you feel you were mistreated by an admin, then ultimately its my server and if you wish I can review the logs to see whats happened.
